I came across this article today... literally stumbled upon it on StumbledUpon and thought I should post it. The author, Sam Sanders, made some very good points about the validity of Black History Month and what we can do to make it a have meaning again.

The thing about black history month is that it creates a sense of the "other" there is no white history month, because every month is white history month. Instead of simply celebrating black history once a month, it should be cerebrated everyday...
That being said, his idea of making black history month intricate and complex is interesting, but to do away with it all together and learn a little everyday might be a better way to accomplish that...
